CONCEPT OF INDISCRIMINATE SERVICE
The work being done by Bhai Ghaniya Ji Mission
Society (Regd.) for the service of mankind needs no introduction. The
basic principle of the society is to render selfless service to the
poor, needy & down trodden patients irrespective of caste, creed, colour
or race.
A BRIEF LIFE HISTORY OF BHAI GHANIYA JI
Bhai Ghaniya (1648-1718), was a Sikh of Guru Teg
Bahadur and was the founder of the Sevapanthi or Addanshahi sect of the
Sikhs. Bhai Sahib was born in a Dhamman Khatri family of Sodhara near
Wazirabad in
Sialkot district (now in Pakistan). His father was a wealthy trader, but
he himself being of a religious bent of mind left home. His quest ended
as he met Guru Tegh Bahadur (1621-75) and accepted initiation at his
hands. Ghaniya Ji established a dharamsathal at Kavha village, at
present Attock district of Pakistan. His special mission was selfless
service of humanity with no distinction of nationality, caste or creed.
During the frequent sallies and skirmishes
between the Sikhs and the enemy, Bhai Ghaniya Ji was often seen carrying
a mashak to serve water to anyone who was thirsty. He took upon the task
of quenching the thirst of the wounded soldiers in the battle of Anadpur
Sahib in 1704. He did this sewa with love and affection without any
discrimination between the Guru’s Sikh soldiers and the Mughal army’s
soldiers. Forerunner of the present day Red Cross is a tribute to the
Universal message of compassion and kindness to all. While the world
hails Henry Dunant, founder of the Red Cross, as the first humanitarian
at the service for the care of war victims.
AIM & OBJECTS OF THE SOCIETY
Bhai Ghaniya Ji Mission Society (Regd.) was
established on
12th May, 1997 with the sole aim of extending selfless
service to the poor, needy and downtrodden patients, some of whom, would
unfortunately die, being unable to bear the cost of medicines and
treatment. Initially, the society was started with 11 members and
monthly collection of Rs. 25,000/- was collected to help the poor and
needy patients. But now by the grace of Almighty and unstinted
co-operation of our generous donors (presently about 3200 in nos.), the
yearly collection has risen to Rs. 70 Lac with a Board consisting of 4
patrons, 2 Associated Members, 61committee Members and 20 Advisory
members to control the functioning of the society. The members of the
society are deputed to sit in the Govt. and
Charitable
Hospitals,
T.B. Hospital, Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Sri Guru Ramdas Hospital (Gurudwara
Shaheed & Vallah), Mata Kaulan Ji Mission Hospital, Civil Hospital,
Amritsar etc. to help the poor and needy patients. Beside that, the
society is also running Bhai Ghaniya Ji Sajan Saraswati Mission Hospital
(OPD). The major cost of construction of Hospital was donated by Sajan
Saraswati Foundation Trust U.K. through S. Gurmukh Singh Baura & Dr.
Gurmeet Kaur Baura Trustees of Trust where about 250 patients daily take
Medical advantage, S. Narinder Singh Ji Memorial, Bhai Ghaniya Ji
Homeopathic Dispensary, S. Gian Singh Chawla Memorial Bhai Ghaniya Ji
Physiotherapy Centre, S. Amarjit Singh Chawla of Australia, our
Associated Member of Society, donated the entire amount in memory of his
father S. Gian Singh Ji Chawla. Bhai Ghaniya Ji Acupressure Centre is
also working at 62, East Mohan Nagar, Amritsar. Apart from this,
Ms. Daphne May of U.K. has donated
the entire amount for the construction of adjoining Hospital building &
Ceragem Thermal Massager centre under her name.
With the generous help and kind co-operation of
Sajan Saraswati Trust
U.K., the society has
one Ambulance-Cum-Dead Body Van, One Mobile Dispensary Van which have
been working since
17-12-2007. The Van is fitted with the modern equipments i.e.
ECG, Sugar Testing device etc. Six villages are being covered twice a
week and on meager amount of Rs. 5, three days medicine is being given
to the patients. Rs. 15 is charged for ECG and Rs. 15 are charged for
Sugar Testing etc. and after every two months we rotate the van to the
other villages.
Every year, the society also organizes 2-3
Medical Camps in different villages,
to help the needy and poor patients. The Eye Camps are also organised
every year and free Eye Operation facilities are provided to the
patients with the help of Thekedar Bishan Singh Hanspal Public
Charitable Trust,
Amritsar.
The society is planning to start similar
dispensaries in the backward and poor localities of the city, one such
dispensary has been started in Maqbool Pura area, a poor and backward
locality of the city on 13-12-2008, sponsored by S. Trilochan Singh Ji
Chawla of Raipur (Chhattisgarh), about 100 patients are being attended
daily where a need for a computer lab is felt to in order to give better
services to the patients.
We daily witness a
number of road accidents and injured sometimes die due to
non-availability of immediate First Aid which is highly painful. Injured
needs to be shifted to hospital immediately and generally they hardly
get any timely help from the Govt. Agencies. For this purpose, the
society is considering very seriously to encroach upon the kind
generosity of all our member donors to make them prepared to go for a
Trauma Van.
Now Bhai Ghaniya Ji Mission Society has started a
new unit i.e. Bhai Ghaniya Ji Blood & Eye
Donation Council. The main functions of this unit will be to
create awareness among the general masses for donating eyes to the blind
persons and also to persuade them to donate blood for the poor and needy
patients by organizing Blood Donation Camps. Our new Unit is eliciting
full co-operation of Eye Donation Association (Regd.), Hoshiarpur.
Cancer Care Unit
Another milestone in
this direction is, to provide medical help to cancer patients, those who
require Chemotherapy. The Chemotherapy medicines are provided at much
lesser prices than the market price. The unit is running under the name
“Bhai Surat Singh (Puran Ji) Cancer Care Unit”.
Eyes Care Unit
Society is opening a New Unit namely
“S. Basant Singh Ji Hanspal Eyes Care Unit”
in the month of Jan 2010 in Association with Thekedar Bishan Singh
Hanspal Charitable Trust, Asr, at 62, East Mohan Nagar,
Amritsar.

provides financial help upto Rs. 10,000/- (Ten Thousand) to Kidney

countries. He has very kindly come forward to donate handsome amount
more than Rs. One Lac for the society and consented to donate more funds
